Transcript: Is it possible that you can change your entire mood simply by creating a thought? Consider this: When we have a thought our brains release a chemical that goes through our entire bodies. Now when that thought is negative, the chemical that is released causes our muscles to tense, causes our hands to sweat, causes our heart rate to go so fast that some of us even feel dizzy when we feel angry. ever On the other side, when the thought is positive another chemical gets released and that chemical causes our bodies to relax. It dries out our palms, it slows down our heart rate to a comfortable peaceful rate. At the same time we all of the sudden have this focus and energy to live our lives and go after our dreams and enjoy all the adventure that’s before us. . Now the interesting things is all those sensations, which affect our moods, are caused by a chemical released from our brains. The chemical that’s released is determined by the thoughts we have. Every thought we have affects our entire body including our moods and the sensations that we have in our hearts. . Is it possible to change our entire mood simply by creating a new thought? . What do you think? . According to neuroscientists and all the research they’ve done and all the brain scans they’ve done on our behalf, the answer is ‘yes’. . Our thoughts influence everything. They influence our experience in the world, they influence the way our bodies feel, influence the moods that we have. Our thoughts create our lives. . Now the challenge we have is that most people don’t focus in on creating the thoughts they want to have and most people don’t know how to challenge the thoughts that come into their minds. . So I’m going to give you one tip to get you started today to taking charge of your thoughts which changes your mood and your body and your entire life. . The one tip is this: Make a life-style determination that you are going to be a positive, energetic and happy joy-filled person. . Now what do I mean by that? Shen we determine how were going to approach life and respond to situations then that influences our subconscious mind. In that determination we have to be active about it so we’ve talked about affirmations before in our daily affirmations we can include something like: I am a positive energetic happy person or I am determined to seek solutions not problems or maybe something like: no matter what happens today, no matter what circumstance happens in my life, I will find the benefit that I can use for my own good. . You see if we just determine ahead of time how we’re going to respond, then it’s so much easier when life throws us curve balls to choose the positive happy energetic thought and the cool thing is when we choose that kind of thought it actually helps...

Earned Not Given

There’s no mystery about creating success. . The same powerful tool moves us towards our goals in every area of life: . Career Relationships Health and Fitness Business  . Any goal you have will be only be reached if you use this incredibly powerful tool. . See, Success is Earned Not Given. . Allow me to explain . . Transcript . Hey there. I’m LouAnn Stropoli and I’m the founder of Inspirational Leading Academy, an Amazon #1 best selling collaborate author, and I help people take the Stop out of their Start. . Today we’re going to talk about the most important tool you have in your tool box to create your success. That tool is Preparation. . Now here’s a real quick example: I LOVE running Spartan races. They are so much fun. They give me so much focus. They give me a reason to train. Spartans are an incredible group of people who support each other in incredible ways. So I recently ran my second race and I was able to compare it to the first one and also look back upon the training and see where I had done well and where I had sort of missed the mark. . Now the thing that I added differently for the second race was running up in the mountains and the hills of California. I would go out for 1-2 hour training runs – and some of these hills – mountains – are pretty straight up. It was great training and I noticed on race day that that training came in really handy because Temecula is really hilly. I found that all the way up to the end of the race I was still running. There were a lot of people who were barely walking at that point. Because I had trained in that way I was actually running feeling really great at that point. . But I also noticed and I know this about myself the weakest part of my body is my upper body strength and I’m working on building it up weight trainings, pushups, handstand pushups are my next goal – but when I got into the race that fact that I hadn’t trained properly with my upper body was very noticeable. . So there’s an obstacle where you have to grab the rings and the bars and you have to move yourself along. When I was a kid that was no problem but on the race I didn’t actually get past the first rung. The rope climb – A lot of the rope climb is your legs too – it’s arms and legs together, but I don’t have a rope. Although I tried – I tried 3 times to get going on the rope, I just could never – I couldn’t figure it out . It was so obvious to me the areas where I was strong in my training ended up being the areas where I was strong in my race. . Ok now that applies to other areas of life too. Our training affects our performance or our success. So for me being a profession musician in my first career I trained my entire life until I got to the place where I was performing professionally – and then I kept training cause it’s a continua process. . So here’s my question: Is there an area of your life where you’re preparing a next step or you’re training to grow? Is there an area? . Now I’ll ask you: Are you doing the proper training to open up that door for yourself? . For instance: Are you trying to move from one career to another? Are you expecting a baby? Are you preparing for a life-long relationship with someone? If so are you taking time to answer all the tough questions together? Are you delving into relationships communication? Are you doing what it...

3 Reasons Why Stepping Out Beyond Your Fears Is Worth The Risk

3 Reasons Why Stepping Out Beyond Your Fears Is Worth The Risk

. Have you ever stood on the edge of a cliff and wondered what it would be like to fly? . I mean like  – take a leap and sour out over the valley? . . I have an almost insatiable thirst to fly. It’s apparently why I hike to the edge of cliffs why I like to drive moving trucks across the country and why I’m an entrepreneur . I once said to a counselor,  “I don’t live by fear.“ She gave me a condescending look of doubt and disbelief. I promptly fired her!! . It’s not that I don’t feel fear. It’s more that I refuse to allow it to control my life. I refuse to be stopped by it. . I today’s article, I’d like to help you do the same. . If you prefer to LISTEN rather than READ, then here’s your MP3: Enjoy! http://www.louannstropoli.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Beyond-Fears.mp3 . . Here’s 3 reasons why stepping out beyond our fears is worth the risk. . . 1) It teaches our brains a new definition of fear. . . . See – fear exists in the brain… not in real life. Fear is a made up ‘reality’ It’s our brain’s way of keeping us out of danger. Depending on each brain’s interpretation of danger – fear looks differently. . . This is why some people are afraid of heights and others aren’t. The height differential is the same. What the individual brain sees and registers in each person is what makes the difference. . , I honestly had a BIG fear that my crowd funding campaign would be a total flop. * My family is now in heaven * I’m still developing entrepreneurial venture partners for my business. * Many friends don’t understand what I’m doing. * Who else in this economy is going to help little ole me?   . What if it failed while the world was watching? * What would that do to my business? * How would that effect my efforts to attract the right clients and partners? * What would this do to all the progress I’ve made emotionally and in my ability to re-frame the difficult past experiences of my life? . I had a choice to make: a) step out and and risk it all or b) give in to the fear and stay slumped down in a corner . I chose to step out! . By stepping out I helped my brain to learn that flopping publicly does not equal being eaten alive by a large animal and that I and my business would be just fine no matter the outcome. . I took the risk and I’m so glad I did. . . . 2) It teaches us that ‘NO’ is ‘YES’. . . Darren Hardy, my business mentor, says this: “Go out there and fail as much as possible!” . . As a real estate agent, Darren would knock on doors every work day until he had 50 nos. He would actually mark them off on a chart!!! . He got pretty used to hearing no and he developed a strong resistance to rejection. . During my campaign I had to be very courageous. It wasn’t enough to post photos and pleas on Social Media. . I had to email our community and contact personal and entrepreneurial friends. It’s a scary thing to contact people personally and ask for help. . I kept hearing my mentor in my head: “Go out there and get as many ‘no’s as possible. Eventually you’ll learn to like it.” . Did I hear ‘No’s?...

How to Forgive and Release Before Your Body is Dead

How to Forgive and Release Before Your Body is Dead

You’ve heard that saying, “I’ll forgive her – over my dead body!!” . The sad thing: that lack of forgiveness is actually moving that person to a dead body more quickly. . I suppose it does hasten the forgiveness. I declare it right now, however: There’s a better way!!!   First – remember what we talked about the last two weeks: . Last week – we replaced the word forgiveness with the word release (click here to read/listen to it). . Two weeks ago we discussed 4 lies that we attach to forgiveness that actually keep us from obtaining this freedom (click here to read/listen to it). . Today I invite you to consider one truth about forgiveness/release. I will also offer you three methods that will help you forgive – before your body is dead. . If  you prefer to listen, simply click the arrow in the sound track below. http://www.louannstropoli.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Forgiveness_Before_Dead_Body_7_15.mp3 . The One truth about Forgiveness is this: Forgiveness is a gift!. . “Yeah“, someone heckles from the audience, “for the person who gets it.“ . OK – Fair enough. The person who has been forgiven does get a pretty cool gift. What I mean, however, if that forgiveness is a gift for you! . Unforgiveness is a cancer. It eats away at your soul and your spirit. . It grows within you so fast that you soon can’t recognize the person it’s made you to be. The results show up not only in our countenance and spirit but the hatred invites disease in our physical bodies. . The person who holds onto unforgiveness does all these terrible things to him/herself. Meanwhile, the unforgiven person goes along his/her merry little way – not caring at all. . See – unforgiveness does nothing to bring about justice or right a wrong. It simply gives the other person continued power over us. We continue to be slaves thinking we’re somehow winning a battle over the offender. Truth is – the offenders are winning. . Mahatma Ghandi said, “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” . Today – I want to give you the skills to be the strong. In order to do that I will offer you three techniques I use to enable myself to receive this gift called forgiveness. .   Those who know my personal story know that this is real in my life. I’m sharing from experience. My mother suspiciously died and my brother sits on my inheritance while I make myself vulnerable through a crowd funding campaign in order to get on my feet. . If these techniques helped me, I believe they will also help you. Glance through them and utilize the ones the suit you best. You can book mark this page in case you need any of the other options at a later date. . 1) Claim Responsibility . Unjust treatment debilitates us because we feel like we lose power in our lives. . What am I to do with my sudden job loss? Oh great – now everybody is believing that slanderous lie that Lisa is spreading about me. . Here’s a quote from one of mentors, Darren Hardy: “You are – at all times – 100% responsible for your life. You have ownership of changing any situation into a positive. You have full control at all times.” . So – when my last non-profit job ended with a 3 day notice with no unemployment, no savings, and no family support….. I had to say to myself, . “None of this was what I expected and...

Forget Forgiveness!

Forget Forgiveness!

. Having trouble with forgiveness? No problem. You’re not alone! Here’s Your solution: Forget About It! You read that right. Forget Forgiveness! There! I said it! . . Forget forgiveness??  What on earth?!?!?! . Ok – Ok – just hear me out – just for a moment. . Speaking of hearing me out – Here’s an MP3 in case you prefer to listen. http://www.louannstropoli.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Forget_Forgiveness.mp3 . . Ok – back to reading… If you read last week’s article (click here to view it) then you are aware of my interpretation of the four lies we believe about forgiveness. Those lies hold us back from creating the freedom we deserve and desire. . It’s my belief that the word ‘forgiveness’ has all these associations (lies) tied to it in our hearts and minds. . We don’t really understand it anymore You know – kind of like the words ‘friend’ and ‘love’. Our definitions are a bit mixed up. . Because of that – when we hear the word, forgiveness, our spirits, our bodies, our subconscious, and our conscious minds get all messed up. We tense up. We say yes to forgiveness with our mouths but the rest of us puts up such a fight that 5 years down the road we’re still stuck. . Here’s my solution: Instead of the word ‘forgiveness’ I use the word ‘release‘. . Here’s what I mean.. When I say I forgive someone I mean these three things: . 1) I release that person from my grip of vengeance. . Now the truth is – I’m Italian. 1/2 Sicilian and 1/2 Calabrese. I can do revenge… I can do revenge real good and for a looonnng time. . But – when I forgive someone – I make a conscious choice to release that person from the threat of my personal revenge. . 2) I release that person into the grip of my higher power. . We have people of all positions of faith and non-faith in our community. Perhaps you have some idea of a power that is higher than yourself. Perhaps you believe in the laws of karma, energy, or the universe. Perhaps you believe in God, Allah, Brahman, or some other expression. . No matter what that is for you. Do you believe that an injustice will be taken care of in some way at some time? . I’ve been through a TON of injustice in my life. I have not personally seen justice acted out for most of those situations. . I do, however, have to trust at if retribution is supposed to happen, then at the right time it will. . I also have to understand that I am not the one to act on that – in most cases. . Now I have to make a few clarifications: . First: Should all honorable forces on the earth fight against injustice such as the Holocaust, the Khmer Rouge, and Isis? YES! I believe we should fight against these forces. We cannot sit idly by and watch others be brutally killed. . When I say that I’m not the one to bring about justice, I’m not necessarily referring to large scale social injustices that must be halted with a large scale response. I believe that we should and indeed MUST act collectively on behalf of others who need our help. . . Second: Should we address slander or wrongful acts against us? Should we confront abuse and violations? Yes, of course. We should represent ourselves honorably and seek to gain back what has been taken from us. . There is a difference, however,...

You are NOT fat!

You are NOT fat!

I’ve had the privilege of sharing my fitness journey with the clients I coach for several years now. . I’ve noticed a variety of responses from all of us at different times. . * Sometimes we begin with a bang and then fade quickly when it gets hard or when there’s an injury. . * Sometimes we begin slowly but surprise ourselves a few months later with extraordinary focus. . * Sometimes times we are sporadic and therefore so are our results. . * Still other times we are amazingly dedicated – each day diligently completing the intended workout without fail. We do our best. We forgive the rest. Our bodies and overall health are transformed – one small step at a time.  . As a result of coaching others and examining my own journey, I’ve learned a few principles that make all the difference for our success. . Surprisingly, these principles have little to do with our choice of program or nutrition plan. . Rather, they have everything to do with how we view ourselves and how we view our bodies. . I have 3 Principals to help you on your journey. . When you focus on these three things – the rest will fall right into place – even that 6-pack you’re dreaming of.   Tip #1: You are NOT fat! . . You’ve seen and know this message, but it never hurts to emphasize it again. You have hair. You have toenails. You have a nose. . You would never say: I am hair! I am toenails! I am a nose! . You may have some extra fat on your body. . Following the same logical pattern: You HAVE fat. You ARE NOT fat! . If you say, ‘I am fat.’ Your brain will work extra hard to make that come true. . Don’t do that. That’s called self-sabotage. . Instead Say: (in the second person – that’s important for your brain – trust me here) “[Your Name], You have some fat on your body. It’s perfectly ok. If you want to release it, you can. If not, you’re simply perfect just the way you are.”  . Tip #2: Choose Love I don’t mean choose to love others. I’m sure you already do that and know to do that. . What I mean is: Choose to Love YOU! This is harder than one would think. . Truth is – Unless we love ourselves, we will never be able to fully love others. . When we love ourselves, we love our bodies. . Our bodies are gifts in which we live out this wonderful thing called life. . I exercise because I love my body, not because I dislike it. . I exercise because I have the privilege of being the only one who can care for it. . I eat well, because I realize that when I eat unhealthy fats, sugar, or processed foods, I am making a choice to poison myself and create a situation where a future diagnosis will be more probable. . I love myself and my body. That’s why I exercise. Because I love it – not hate it.  . Tip #3: Dare to look in the mirror. I deliberately look at myself in the mirror. Dare I say it – I take photos too – yes – sometimes nude (Note to all: NEVER do I ever send them to anyone or back them up on the cloud! I think we all learned our lesson from the celebrities with that one.) . Why do I do such things? . * Because I...

Honor the Break

I’ve discovered a very surprising motivator. . It helps me: . Release weight faster Reignite my focus Realign myself after a disappointment Reinvigorate the activity in my brain . It releases endorphins in my body and lights a spark in my neurons. . Do you know what it is? . It’s called a BREAK.  Who knew!?!?! . Here’s what I learned about breaks this past week. . If you’ve been following the FB page you may have noticed that I’m in the middle of a fitness journey. Simply working towards being the most healthy me that I can be. . It’s my custom to do some sort of workout every day. My typical routine is 1/2 hour of strength and a 1/2 of cardio. . The other day, I just felt like switching it up. All I did was 30 minutes of strengthening yoga poses. . Guess what happened in the following two days. Not only did I NOT gain weight – I actually released 1.6 pounds! . My body just wanted a little break before it broke it’s little plateau. . I include breaks in my work day too. They’re schedule and yes .. my iPhone dings when it’s time to “Honor the Break? . I notice (like the last few days) when I get off and don’t take my scheduled breaks, my entire productivity wains. When that happens, I always feel far less than satisfied at the end of the day. . Are you taking breaks? Are they scheduled? . What can you do to include a little more break time in your life? It doesn’t have to be long – but it does have to be an actual break. . I promise – you won’t lose productivity – you’ll actually gain it. . While you ponder that question, here’s a two minute sunset meant to help you rest and relax. . . . See you in the comments! . Joy and Happiness: Slippery Like a Fish?

Joy and Happiness: Slippery Like a Fish?

Have you every tried to catch a fish with your bare hands? I don’t recommend it. It’s as difficult as trying to bob for apples in a bucket of water. . It’s crazy how slippery they are. . There have been times in my life when I thought Joy and Happiness were just a slippery as the fish in my aquarium. . We all go through those times in life when everything seems to be going incredible great. We feel that we’ve reached the pinnacle of life. Nothing can ever knock us down again. . Then… well – things happen. We end up battered or on the ground. Feeling sad. Feeling mad. Feeling loss. . It’s as though our happiness never existed. The joy is gone from our hearts and the laughter is replaced with tears and sadness. . Although it’s normal to go through ups and downs in life, there are things we can do to manage through the downs more efficiently and with more strength. . Here are a few tips.   1) Attitude Matters Here’s the thing. It’s possible for two people to face a very similar challenging situation. For example – a divorce or breakup. One of those two people will live through the experience and rise victoriously on the other side. The other will allow the situation to ruin her life. She will never feel worthy of love again. What is it that makes the difference? It’s the attitude we breathe in and the gratitude we breathe out. Truth is – life happens for all of us. We all go through painful situations. We all suffer loss. We all have disappointments. Some people ask: Why me? Others ask: Why not me? When we ask Why not me? We recognize that valleys are common in life. Everyone goes through them. They are climbupable.   (yes – that’s a tweetable new word) How do you get to that place of power? Ask yourself this one question: For what can I be grateful in this situation. No matter how small – Find something for which you can give thanks. Giving thanks is not only a power position. It also influences the blood levels in your brain and influences which parts of your brain respond to your situation? You want the power solution-oriented centers of your brain to respond not the panic victim centers. Your attitude controls how your brain respond. Your Attitude Matters! 2) Your Thoughts Matter We’ve focus a lot of our discussion here in Inspirational Leading on learning to control our thoughts so they don’t control us. We’ve learned that our thoughts control our emotions. Our emotions control our actions. Our actions control our lives. We talk about how to focus our thoughts on the things we desire in life, how to visualize our dreams, and how to find our quiet inner being through meditation. We’ve learned how to set promises for ourselves in order to reach our goals. All these things are based on our ability to focus our thoughts. Even our self-identity is based on what we allow ourselves to think. When it comes to joy and happiness, our thoughts play a huge part of our success. The people who are the happiest are not the ones who have every gift available to them. They are the ones who can control their thoughts and perspective even in the most scary circumstances. What you think about determines whether you will be joy-filled and happy. Joy and happiness have nothing to do with your circumstances. They have everything to do with how you think about those...
