Palm_Tree_Feelin Post

Do you Remember that hit song by the Righteous Brothers:

You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’?

Well – that’s totally in my head but my words are:

I’ve Got that Lovin’ Feelin’!

Yes I do!  What feeling is that?

Well – before rumors start- it’s not THAT kind of lovin’ feelin’

It’s more of that lovin’ feeling that comes when you make a big decision that’s right but also scary.

Do you remember that post when we talked about that?
We enjoyed a lot of really good interaction on that topic.
You’ll find that series of posts here:

Well – it’s my turn to make a big decision that’s causing tons of those kinds of feelings.

What’s that decision?

Well – you are amongst the first to know cause this community is very important to me and I respect your loyalty.

Here it is:

Inspirational Leading is moving from Boston to LA!!!!

From Snow and Ice

To Palm Trees and Ocean Sunsets

Sunset_SoCal

I’ve accepted a position as the Director of Outreach at a church in La Canada, CA  (just north of Pasadena).

Next week – I’ll post some tips on how to make decisions amidst those crazy feelings and how I knew this was right. In a future post I’ll also share what I’ll miss about this place that’s been home since 1995.

For now – it’s enough to say:
I really do have that Shake-it-up-and-grow-feelin’
Here’s why:

1) I’m leaving in two weeks and I just received the written agreement yesterday!

2) I have no apartment yet (!!!!!)

3) I’ll be driving a truck while pulling a car. Not my first with the truck, but definitely my first with the car towing!

4) Despite these crazy things – I’m 100% convinced this is the right next step!

I’m excited and yet I feel like I have to throw up.
Remember that post? Read that one again  here.

  6. How nervous are you pulling up roots from 1995 but I am so excited for your new life plan. A place to call your own in your career path of choice. I like that word ~ choice! A reflection of who you are knowing that you have the voice, wisdom and guiding hand to follow through on a dream! Sister ~ I am in awe!

My own big decisions right now ~ nothing! I will contemplate this and return with a response. I just wanted to shout out ~ How proud I am… Cheers!

Our lives really are a choice. I’m trying to remember that at every juncture.
Nervous – not so much except for the apartment thing. It will be weird to pull out without knowing where I’ll settle.
      There’s a lot to arrange.

  11. CONGRATULATIONS LouAnn!!! You have experienced a long time of waiting and lots of challenges looking for our Lord’s leading and your next ministry adventure. We commend you for being faithful. I am sorry that we couldn’t talk much last Saturday, but we both are happy and excited for you with this call to CA. May His 🙂 be upon you during the count-down, travelling West and Start-up at LaCanada. Thanks in advance for being one of our west coast friends. Your contribution to my life on this coast is appreciated and will be remembered. God Bless. Ed and Sandy

    • Thanks so much for your congrats and your blog comment!! Our blog community will also grow with this move. That’s super exciting as well. Hope to see you under the palm trees someday. I’ll always appreciate you and your wonderful influence in my life. 🙂

  12. LouAnn – I am SO excited for you! I know you have longed for warmer weather and a permanent place to settle in for ministry and community. I will be praying both for you!

For the apartment, have you contacted Biola University yet? They probably have a listing for students and staff, and may be willing to help you out since you are in ministry. Try their Student Development or Student Life Office.

And I am still up for a road trip if you need a moving partner – depending on the details of course! 🙂 Know I will be praying for you as you make all the arrangements.

    Love you, Sister!

    Susan 🙂

    • Hey – thanks for your post here in our community!!! You are definitely an inspirational leader and your input is very valued here. 🙂 Thanks for your excitement and your advice!! I look forward to staying in touch and continuing to be inspired be you and your dedication as a minister. Love you back. 🙂

  13. Wow, I am so happy for you. We will miss seeing you but love to keep in touch with this site, etc. I envy the move to a better climate. Love West Coast, this is a bigger change than I have probably made. But did leave a job last year that I felt no longer served me as to who I was as a person. I am going forward one step at a time, have ideas about what I want but am staying in faith that things will work out. It is what I wanted to do but scary at the same time. I have never done this before so it is new ground. In the past when things seemed like you were uncertain of the outcome but took a leap in faith that in the end it turned out for the best. I think it’s like the caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It takes work and strength to get to our new transitional phase. Best to you and keep us posted.

    • Hi Laurie – our most dedicated posting leader!! Thanks for your comment!! I totally understand that “it’s what I want to do but scary at the same time” thing!!! Unless we have courage, we will never learn and grow. You’re awesome! IL will continue and hey – you never know – maybe we’ll meet under a palm tree someday. 🙂

  14. God is so good! Imagining you enjoying the sun and sand, and serving the Lord.

    • sun and palm trees – after 10 years in NE – I’ll take it… even if the ground does rock occasionally. 🙂
Thanks for your post!!! I love reading your comments. Have an Inspirational day!!!
